In 2005 Speakman created a new division which moved beyond plumbing into the HVAC Cooling Market. Today Speakman is proud to offer a line of Indirect/Direct Evaporative coolers which allow homeowners and businesses to cool their spaces while saving money and reducing their carbon footprint.
What is Evaporative Cooling?
Evaporative cooling, is a natural way of removing heat by adding moisture to the air creating evaporation. When a stream of air is infused by a supply of water, heat becomes available for removal from the structure. As the water rich air moves through the building, it seeks out an open window, door or other cracks through which to exit, pushing all the dry (less dense) air out of the building. As the dry, hot air is replaced by cool, evaporated air - it pulls the heat out of everything in the way on its way to getting out that open door, window, etc. Thus effectively cooling the building while windows and doors remain open to outside air.
